Research Opportunities within the biology department.
-
Students may begin doing research in the department as soon as their freshman year. There are
research courses at the 200, 300 and 400 level for various credit hours depending on the extent of
the project. Please speak to a faculty member as soon as possible since some laboratories have a
waiting list to get in and some faculty prefer you to have taken certain courses prior to research so
that you have the necessary background. There are meetings every term prior to registration during
which you can hear about projects available and meet faculty involved. Consider 10 weeks of summer
research in the department. We pay approximately 10 summer students between $3000-3500 out of faculty
grants, the Dana program and the Ford fund.
